Oh Kermit! You’re such a cute little frog and it’s really no wonder why Miss Piggy adored you.
But you were so wrong when you said it wasn’t easy being green.
It’s actually insanely easy to be green.
Of course, easy is one thing.
What really matters is if it tastes good.
Don’t you agree?
So here’s the thing – I recently was gifted with some Amazing Grass products. Now you know I love shiny, new stuff, but I’ll admit that I was a bit hesitant to sample these goods.
You want me to drink it?!?!?
Are you serious?
No, really . . . you are joking, aren’t you?
Grass? Well, wheat grass, actually . . . but still! Grass!!!!????
Hmmmm . . . . . I don’t know about this . . . . .
At first I stared the stuff down. I looked at it – and I looked at it for a good, long while. I was scared of it. HA!
Then I just said the heck with it. You only live once.
I fired up the blender (because you know I wasn’t about to just drink it straight up on my first go).
Into my beverage went almond milk, mango and spinach. Yes, I am a fan of the famed green smoothie. (And though it doesn’t look so hot, it does taste phenomenal. I swear you can’t taste the spinach at all.)
Anyways, in went the Amazing Grass Green SuperFood powder.
I hit the power button and watched my creation develop.
Then, again, I stalled for a bit, giving it a look over. Then finally I just wrapped my lips around the straw and sucked that baby down.
I followed this little ritual for the next week. I progressed from the plain variety, to plain wheat grass, then on to chocolate and then on to berry.
The final verdict:
I couldn’t taste the plain flavor at all. My smoothie was as smooth as ever. Mmmmm . . .
Chocolate I could taste. It wasn’t overpowering or especially sweet. It was light, but tasty.
The berry was probably my favorite. It made me beverage quite yummy. Oh YUM!!! YUM!!! YUMMY YUM!!!
And do you want to know the really strange, odd thing about this whole ordeal?
I feel better.
It’s a bit peculiar, actually. I was so skeptical about this. I’d heard some good reviews about these products but I was totally not going to fall for it. I had to experience it myself.
But . . . . I have noticed a general feeling of better wellness. And I have slept better. And I feel less tired. I am even waking up in the morning much earlier than normal. This stuff has done something to me – a good something.
And wonder of all wonders: I go to the gym before work now. Okay, it’s only been a week or so that this has been going on. But trust me, for me to be up and out the door – it’s a miraculous event. Dragging my limp body from underneath the covers has always been a tremendous challenge. I am so not a morning person. I am a bit astounded by it. I am at the gym by my own choice. I am rolling right of bed – 6:38 AM today, as a matter of fact. Totally a WOW thing for me. And I despise alarm clocks - so none of that business going on.
Now I am not talking about having bounce off the walls energy. And I haven’t suddenly been cured of same fatal illness. I am not going to tell you to expect a miracle.
But I do notice a good boost in a positive direction. Enough so that it’s caught my attention – and it even made me drive to the store to buy more of this stuff. Yep, I spent my own hard earned money on more powder because I am convinced that it is just that good. I plan to buy more, too.
I have to give it a big ole thumbs up.
Oh, yes . . . I should also note that I did finally work up the courage to drink it straight up – as in powder and water alone.
I used the handy little cup they sent along. I tossed in my ingredients and shook it all up.
I tried it with the chocolate flavor - just plain water and powder. It was okay. It wasn’t like a chocolate milk shake kind of thing, it was just decent. It was passable. I’d do it again.
I also tried it with just almond milk – that was good.
And with water and half a scoop of orange crème flavored protein powder (because that was what I had in my kitchen cabinet, if you must know) – rather good indeed.
So by know you’re probably wondering two things:
What’s really in this stuff?
Where would I get some if I have decided to go green?
I won’t bore you with nutritional facts and details. Actually, it would bore me to run it all down. Besides, the company website has already done a nice job with explaining all that stuff:
They’ll also either sell it to you, or tell you where to go get it (there’s a handy little retail store locator). I just typed in my zip code and it told me who was selling it in my area. How convenient!
And FYI: I also got some samples of the bars. I’ll return again to tell you about those. What’s life without something to look forward too!
