All work and no play is an absolutely terrible way to live.
Just as having nothing productive to do will wear on the body and mind (in other words, use or lose it), not making time for some enjoyment, some play, is equally distressing.
You do need a reason to wake up in the morning and work is usually it. It might not be work in the traditional sense, but you need something to do so as not to feel adrift, bored, possibly even depressed. Our bodies and brains were intended to be kept running.
Yet still, both need rest, too. And both function best when there’s a little fun thrown into the mix.
Again, it’s all about balance.
The past couple of days found me in Orlando. I was there for work – a conference, to be exact. But I managed to squeeze in a little play, too. I mean really, Mickey Mouse was just 5 minutes down the road! I couldn’t pass that up!
I also eased up a bit on the typically more nutritious eating. Basically, I ate some cookies. And some ice cream. YUM!
