Step away from the TV. It is, after all, the 15th Annual Turn off the TV Week.
WOO HOO!!! I knew you’d be excited!!!
The television is a wondrous thing. But it also has a habit of sucking you in – and that may mean you move less and possibly eat more.
Or in other words: act like a couch potato and thou will soon look like a big ole sack of potatoes.
Get off the couch!
A study even confirms it. Appearing in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, researchers found that women who viewed 3 or more hours of TV per day were 89% more likely to be plagued by severe abdominal obesity.
I’ll admit to being addicted to Lost. And I do tend to turn on the tube at the end of the day, right before bed time. I like to watch reruns of sitcoms, or even the occasional reality show – OMG! Those housewives are unreal!
Overall though, I don’t watch all that much TV. I just simply don’t have the time. And anyways, I’d rather, more often than not, be doing stuff than just sitting there, hours on end, staring at the screen. I do like to watch some shows, but sometimes the TV just feels like such a time sapper.
Think about this: When you’re on your death bed, will you be happy that you watched every single episode of Dancing with the Stars or would you be more pleased that you put down the remote and went out to really live your life?
And if you can’t bring yourself to turn the TV off altogether, at least watch less of it.
A little less TV and a lot more living = a wise choice!
